away in the manager

When my children were little some of their favorite toys
were their Playmobil sets, We had pioneers, Indians, pirates,
knights, astronauts, families, soccer players, medical personnel,
police, farmyard, zoo, construction, etc. It is one toy
(along with Fisher-Price and legos) that we have kept for them,
tucked away in our storeroom.

So . . . even though they are now grown, when I saw this
new set at Wegmans I just couldn't resist.

Luckily on Christmas Eve,
I had a little help from our Pastor's family

Sweet little girls that know the story of Christmas well.

Away in the manager
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus
Lay down his sweet head

The stars in the sky
looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus,
asleep on the hay"

And just so you know . . .
It took 4 young adults to put the stable together.
Now, who will come over and play with it?

That is so precious! I love the camel. I can be there after breakfast to play!

How cute is that! I agree, that camel is great.

OK, you won't believe this but I have started collecting Nativity sets. Everytime I go to a Thrift store I look for them. So far, I have four sets for the children and two for me.
Kids love them.
Caution, a lot of sets are missing baby Jesus.(?)

I bought a Fisher Price nativity set for my grandchildren a couple of years ago. I love watching them play with it. I have taken to buying Nativity sets at the thrift store like Christine. And she's right, you have to be careful to look for ALL the pieces. It's often the baby Jesus that's missing!?!
Blessings!

This is adorable. I am going to have to look for this set. Lil Tony loves playmobile. It looks like the girls had fun! I love that you saved your kids sets for them. My mom did the same and now the grandkids play with them at their house. Happy New Year!

I saw this at the Christian bookstore last week. I think I will have to give in and buy one next year as I will be an "official" Grandma this next summer when my oldest son gets married. :)

I think I would have had to buy this Nativity set too if I would have seen it at Wegmans. It is adorable. I want the Nativity to become a big part of my grandchildren's Christmases. I like this post.
