wait to worry

I used to worry more.
About all of this . . .

Wait to worry
has now become one of my new personal goals.
I might have a reason to worry but what I am worrying
about may not happen today or even tomorrow or maybe ever.

So . . . I am not going to let worry steal my joy.

There are friends in my life {fellow worriers}
whose thoughts also run to the “worst case scenarios.”

Since I can't take their worry away I will encourage
them {and myself} to “wait to worry”.

The worst kind of worrying I do is about things I have no control over.
Such a waste of time and energy.

I read recently than only 8% of what we worry about ever comes true.
Pretty good odds that things will be okay.

We have so many things going on in our lives that are stressful.
Worrying about all of the things that “could” happen takes so much energy.
I want to avoid that extra stress - so now I will “wait to worry”.

Philippians 4:6-7
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.

John 14:27
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

Corrie Ten Boom
Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength.

What a nice post. I am a worrier. And now I'm going to go google Corrie Ten Boom, because it's a name from my past...I'm thinking she was in hiding in Nazi Germany, but I'm having a hard time retrieving that file from my brain at the moment.

Great post.
I tend to be a worrier. The verse in Philippians is my go to verse when I start to get carried away by the cares of the world.

I also like the quote from Corrie Ten Boom. ...it is so true.

enjoyed the read.
Have a worry free day, Pat

Wonderful post from a fellow worrier. I love the scripture and the quote AND the advice to "wait to worry".

Of course, I'm also a procrastinator. You would think that would come naturally...

Oh such wise words. I am a worrier too. I got it from my mom. You are right though that we have to keep it in check.

I have the Corrie Ten Boom quote above my desk at work. I am inclined to worry and have been trying very hard, since my husband became ill, to focus on the positive.

"wait to worry"...such good advice and sooo difficult to do. I just read (today!)"worry and anxiety are like rocking in a rocking chair, it gives you something to do, but you don't get anywhere". (Jodi Piccoult) I don't think this blog entry by my friend and this line in a novel, on the same day, are coincidental. This means I really need to breathe, let go and move on!
