restless sleep

My friend Debbie P. and I are worriers.
Try as we might it is a hard thing to break free of.

Gracious God,
You have filled our night with safety, but we lie down with anxiety and wake unrefreshed. Open us to your spirit and blow through us like a fresh ocean breeze.
{a prayer from the church bulletin last Sunday}

  1. So many of us ladies are worriers. I am. Worrying takes all the joy out of life, doesn't it? Thanks so much for the prayers today!

    Hugs,
    Mary

  4. Worry is a difficult thing to conquer. Philippians 4:6-7 is one of my favorite passages, but oh, so hard to accomplish:

    "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

    Someone told me once that worry is the absence of faith, that worry does not solve anything ... and still, we worry. (sigh)

  5. Talk about a direct message. It rattled me when I read the opening line to your post. I'm Debbie P. and I'm a worrier... I feel like I'm at an A.A. meeting.

  7. Oh fellow worrier. . . I like this quote and long for a more frequent ocean breeze. It does help to commiserate with you though . At least I don't have to worry about being a lone worrier. Hang in there and know I'm always ready to share.Take care. .

  8. 2 worry quotes i've been thinking about lately...

    "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." - john 14:27

    Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength.- Corrie Ten Boom
